Executive CPPP - Certified Print Production Professional (One-Year Program)

About the Program:
The CPPP certification is a recognized industry standard for print production professionals in Canada. The CPPP program is for people interested in advancing their print production management skills. Anyone in production, account management, marketing coordination, graphic design, sales, or creative will find value in this certification course.
The goal of the program is to help students develop versatile print production management effectiveness. Students learn what it takes to run successful print production jobs and advance to develop innovative problem-solving abilities and comprehensive production management skills.
The program has been redesigned to offer an accelerated learning format, enabling students to complete the certification in a single year. The modular learning design of the program provides students with the flexibility of completing all six modules to achieve full certification, or the option of completing only the first four modules for a recognized level of achievement.
The learning focus of the program:
- Module 1: Image – The essence of colour theory, photography, illustration (electronic art), retouching and art buying.
- Module 2: Studio – Immersion into type/layout processes, workflow, studio briefings, software and ad sizing.
- Module 3: Pre-press – Industry experts provide insight into tone/halftone, colour review, separations, electronic pre-press workflow, proofing and formatting.
- Module 4: Printing – In-depth coverage of printing processes, print-on-demand, the latest digital press capabilities, binding, specification writing, and a study of paper finishes.
- Module 5: Specialty Production – Examine a broad range of unique production types including OOH, DM, POS, publications, premiums/promotion and interactive production.
- Module 6: Production Management – In-depth study of the practices and processes that are critical to effective management, including negotiating, estimates, budgeting and project management.

About the Program Instructor:
Led by Wayne Aubert, a program director with ICA for over ten years. Participants will be challenged each week with new ways of looking at production projects by Wayne and his hand picked team of industry experts.
Wayne Aubert has spent the last twenty years in the communications field. He has extensive agency and client-side experience in print production (his agency roster: Bozell, Ronalds-Reynolds, Saffer, Marshall Fenn, Vickers & Benson and Ogilvy & Mather) and has developed a deep appreciation for the skills needed to advance from being an effective ‘doer’ to a ‘manager’. Wayne has helped countless young professionals extend their own skills beyond technical proficiency towards performance management excellence.
Currently, Wayne is Professor and Program Coordinator for the Advertising Program at Mohawk College.
